Childproofing (Part 1) – Overview

You’ve got your work cut out for you here!  Your little one is going to get into everything.  Your job is to keep them safe.

In Part 1, we’ll do a general overview of what you’re going to need. Get your credit card and drill handy.

Oh, speaking of which, you’re going to need some tools:

Tools

If you don’t have a drill, we recommend this Bosch unit.
Bosch PS31-2A

Yes, it’s expensive.  It also works flawlessly, holds a charge for 3 months and won’t break the second time you use it like the Black & Decker junk.

You’ll also need some screwdrivers.  You have a screwdriver, right? If you don’t, we recommend the Wera.

Wera Phillips #2

Or go big player and buy the set.  Come on! You’re a grown ass man. Invest in some decent tools. You’ll be using them a lot assembling stuff for your kid for the next 18 years.

Wera 6 Piece Screwdriver Set

Yes, we have a preference for German tools.  The cheap Chinese ones break and hurt you. Buy the best and you only cry once.

Gear Needed

  • Baby Gates
  • Electrical Outlet Covers
  • TV Strap
  • Cabinet Locks
  • Door locks
  • Gun Safe
  • Plastic Netting (from the garden department)

You can get most of what you need on Amazon although in a few cases, we are going to recommend Home Depot or a hardware store instead.

In Part 2, we’ll start looking at the actual child-proofing things you will need to buy and install.
